To Blame Government or Authorities in a Democratic Republic is to Set Up a Patsy

The problems of society are not a result of government officials, the collective morals of the members society are to blame - meaning; the choices of the majority of influential individuals are being made irrespective to moral standards that form a foundation for society and as a consequence civility, unity, and progress lose their footing and begin to slip away. Blaming the government is an appealing way of losing sight of the fact that we as individuals and collectively as society need to change by living up to the moral standards upon which this country was sought after and set up. Scape-goating is an easy way of shifting attention away from where it is uncomfortably needed - oneself, it is the pernicious socially accepted epidemic that ravages this nation. The U.S. Constitution begins:
  • We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Why do we as the inheritors of such a noble social experiment that requires its societies members to actively hold up the flame of unity, justice, and domestic tranquility feel that this document reads:

  • We the aristocracy, the wealthy, the high officials, the millionaires, the shameless, the private servants, the "leaders", in order to keep a unity, determine justice, insure our version of tranquility, provide...

This country's power is rooted in its people. When the people are persuaded to relinquish or neglect that responsibility the nation dwindles. Those we put in authority over us reflect what we as a people will tolerate and what we will not tolerate. It reflects our values and priorities. Make no mistake the power in this country is in the hands of the people, so let us look at ourselves, our values, and our priorities for the reasons that our nation as a whole begins to lose its virtue.
